About Shane

Tribute to Shane Daye

Shane Daye was born and raised in Fort McMurray. He attended Timberlea and Thickwood Elementary Schools and Father Patrick Mercredi High School.  Shane completed the Registered Apprenticeship Program for Instrumentation and worked at Suncor for 7 years. Shane was a victim of a tragic workplace incident at Suncor site on Sunday, April 20, 2014.

Shane was very active in community sport as a youth. He participated in Fort McMurray minor hockey and little league baseball. He was a member of the Fort McMurray Bulldogs Baseball Prairie Championship team in 2005. Shane excelled at the 2nd base position.

As an adult, Shane founded the CKA paintball team and travelled all the way to Daytona Beach to compete in World Competitions. The Play 4 Daye and Bash 4 Nash logo for this memorial foundation clearly illustrates Shane's passion for paintball and his teammates.

Shane never turned down opportunities and dabbled in as much as he could. He played floor hockey, golf, enjoyed late night gaming, salmon fishing with his dad, Dave, card games with his extended family and exotic travel.

Shane was a very happy go lucky young man and touched many lives in his short time on Earth. He maintained quality friendships throughout his life.

Shane’s family is very proud of him and hope this memorial foundation continues to spread Shane’s contagious smile.
