Four scholarship recipients are chosen by the board each Spring.  Individuals can apply themselves or can be recommended by coaches, parents, teachers or a mentor. All youth residing within the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo are welcome to apply for a scholarship.

Father Patrick Mercredi High School staff are encouraged to recommend students they feel are deserving and qualify for a scholarship.  Both Keith Nash and Shane Daye attended Father Mercredi High School and were well known in the community.

Grade 12 recipients must use their scholarship for post-secondary study. For junior high students, the scholarship can be used to help subsidize enrolment in the sport academy program offered at Father Patrick Mercredi Community School or other equivalent programs. The recipients may be presented their award at either the Convocation ceremony for grade 12 students or at the year end school award ceremony for all other grades.

A plaque is kept on display at Father Patrick Mercredi High School. Each years recipients names are engraved on the plaque.

Selection Process: The board members of the Shane Daye and Keith Nash Memorial Foundation will review all applications and select the annual recipients.

Preference: 40% Academic, 30% Involvement in Sport/Recreation, 20% Leadership Skills, 10% Financial Need
